Spellbound & Shelved Gnome Roster

Red hats, teetering stacks, and the log that names them.

Gnome Roster

The Steam page never publishes a complete employee handbook, but the activity log does. Spellbound & Shelved gnomes announce their own work. This roster is built from those lines plus Steam’s mastery achievements. If a hat is not listed, it has not spoken on a screenshot we trust yet — hire them anyway if the UI offers the slot.

You do not control them like RTS squads. You hire, pep-talk, unchain their walking space, and buy speed. Recap of verbs: How to Play.

Named staff

Fizzwick. Flagship hat. Steam tracks Fizzwick Mastered. Log samples: There we go, “The Complete the Wandering Planets”. and Filed “Collected Lectures on Old Road Rhymes” right where it belongs. Pep-talk Fizzwick after CLOSED; mastery implies the buff sticks to a worker you already like.

Bramble. The other named mastery: Bramble Mastered. Files Errata & Marginalia on Vanishing Acts and Against Transmutation. If two hats are in frame, Bramble is a safe click target.

Nutmeg. Steady filer. A Field Guide to Misdrawn Marks, Against Sleeping Draughts, The Bespoke Art of Wand Ergonomics. Treat as core crew, not a guest star.

Pippin. Cheerful log voice (“Phew!”). Returns A Beginner’s Guide to Convincing Nothing and The Ancient Art of Old Road Rhymes. Good mood indicator: if Pippin is still “Phew”-ing, the library is coping.

Snorri. Meditations on Rehearsed Miracles. Quieter presence. Still a body on the mosaic.

Thimble. Advanced Drowned Kingdoms, The Trouble with Grip Techniques. Another core walker.

Wobble. The Beloved Art of the Endless Winter. Name suggests slapstick; still files correctly.

Juniper. Errata & Marginalia on Staff Balancing. Late-log appearance on a busier floor.

The store also says you can watch a dozen red-hatted gnomes. Named eight plus unnamed extras is consistent with a growing crew. Do not stop hiring because the wiki ran out of names.

Mastery

Mastery is an achievement and a systems hint. We will not invent a hidden skill tree per gnome beyond what hover text shows in your build. Practically: keep Fizzwick and Bramble alive in the rotation, pep-talk them during CLOSED sprints, and buy the upgrade jobs that make every hat faster rather than a unique Fizzwick-only mythic.

If mastery requires using a gnome a lot, that is another reason not to unchain four wings for one hat to patrol.

How to manage the crew

  • Hire before speculative wings. Labor beats empty racks. Shelf wings explains the opposite mistake.
  • Pep-talk the nearest bottleneck, not your favorite. Tips page: tips.
  • Read the log when the floor looks identical. Names tell you who is actually working the far chain.
  • CLOSED is their best environment. Readers steal their output. Flip policy: door sign.

What gnomes are not

They are not player characters you dress for PvP. They are not Roblox avatars. They are not enemies. If a gnome stands still, they are pathing, celebrating a file, or blocked — pep-talk or unchain, do not assume a combat stun.

Flavor titles they file are not inventory. You cannot keep Bezoars: A Practical Companion. You can keep the hat who filed it.

When a new name prints in the log, add them to your mental roster. The wiki will catch up after a patch or a clearer screenshot. Until then, if it has a red hat and a bow, it is on your side.

For the people they serve (and who unshelve them), continue to readers. For the evening they finally see wood grain, walkthrough.
