Spellbound & Shelved Leaderboards

Spellbound & Shelved ships with Steam Stats and Leaderboards in the store categories, next to achievements and Family Sharing. That does not turn the academy into a multiplayer match. You still hire gnomes, flip the door sign, and tidy 6,655 books alone. This page is the honest map of what those Steam features are — and what we will not invent board names for.

Launch-day SteamDB also logged a peak concurrent player count in the high hundreds (we captured 595 on 7 Sep 2026) and a few hundred hub followers. Those are live-player charts, not in-game ladders. If you came here looking for a ranked season, you will not find one in the library.

Where the boards live

Open them from the Steam overlay or the app’s community hub while the client is running. Steam lists community-visible stats for app 5097840. Global achievement percentages sit on the Steam achievements strip. This wiki’s achievements guide is the trophy tutorial; the hub is the live percent.

We do not print fake board titles such as “Most Gold” or “Fastest 6,655” unless the overlay shows those strings in-game. Idle games often track completion time, books filed, or readers served. Until a screenshot of the Steam leaderboard UI names the columns, treat any website that lists exact board names as guessing. This page will name columns when we can read them.

What they are good for

• Bragging on a short run. Store copy says 1–3 hours. Launch reviews cluster near two. Some players hunt a 90-minute / speedy trophy. A time board, if Steam exposes one, is the place that number would sit. Pace: walkthrough.
• Comparing 100%. Thirty Steam achievements, including reader Appears toasts and Fizzwick / Bramble mastery. Stats can show how many players popped the finale versus how many bounced at the first OPEN mosaic.
• Family Sharing. Another Steam category. A shared copy still writes to that Steam user’s stats, not to a household pool.

They are not a reason to keep the door OPEN forever. Gold is not a PvP currency. A Cat dump from Lom the Cat (+600 observed) inflates a sitting without making you “rank one.”

What they are not

• Not a shared-screen session. No second manager, no invite-a-friend staffing. If a friend appears on a leaderboard, they played their own library.
• Not a live-service season. One public Steam branch at launch (build 25162249, 7 Sep 2026). Steam news for the app was empty when we queried it. Updates will log a patch if one names a new board.
• Not needmoar.games duels. The studio site ranks other Steam games in head-to-head taste votes. Spellbound & Shelved sat as a fan-boosted “king of the hill” highlight there at launch and was still unranked in duels (zero players had duelled it). That is marketing-adjacent community taste, not an in-game ELO. Links: official links.
• Not a codes leaderboard. There are no official promo codes.

How to play for a clean time

If you care about a clock, play the walkthrough with CLOSED-majority tidy sprints, skip cosmetic upgrade leaves, and do not farm Cats during the last thousand books. Save-reload if a gnome walks off the isometric floor — troubleshooting — instead of New Game, or the clock is wasted.

Use the upgrade planner and the door-sign planner as the actual tools. Leaderboards are a Steam overlay, not a third planner.

Capture notes

Store categories at launch: single-player, Steam Achievements, Stats, Leaderboards, Family Sharing, plus Steam is learning (the review sample was still small). Review mix we later captured: 22 reviews, 21 positive, 1 negative (about 95.5% positive, Steam score 7). Peak CCU 595. Depot size 379.30 MiB on disk, 124.36 MiB download — the store still lists 500 MB headroom.

If a future build adds an in-game scoreboard next to the activity log, it will be a different article. Until then, the only numbers that change the run are diamonds in the top-left and books on the boards. Flip the plaque. Let Pippin file. Check Steam after the finale if you want a stamp.
